Case Study

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service delivers a range of prevention, protection and response services to over 1.45 million residents across local authority areas of Bournemouth, Dorset, Poole, Swindon and Wiltshire. The client was facing a very challenging financial future with an expected additional 30% reduction in the Central Government grant and recognised a clear business need for a technology-driven way of delivering their vision. CAMMS’ integrated product suite inclusive of cammsrisk helped reduce the client’s burdens in reporting, helped identify gaps and effectively track trends and progress.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) delivers a range of prevention, protection and response services to over 1.45 million residents across local authority areas of Bournemouth, Dorset, Poole, Swindon and Wiltshire. They operate 50 fire stations, manages over 1,000 fulltime and on-call firefighters as well as the 999 emergency calls hotline 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.

The Challenge

The client DWFRS, was facing a very challenging financial future with an expected additional 30% reduction in the Central Government grant and recognised a clear business need for a technology-driven way of delivering their vision. However, the solution required could not have any affect in the delivery of frontline services, and should also manage the impact of cuts through risk management processes.

The Solution

DWFRS selected CAMMS’ integrated product suite, inclusive of cammsrisk, to empower staff at all levels and link their strategic approach, planning, risk management, projects, budgets and community engagement. cammsrisk, helped DWFRS make informed decisions during the allocation of scarce resources, helping to create a more risk-aware culture within the organisation.
cammsrisk not only helped DWFRS staff at every level and released capacity among managers who were already-stretched, but it also helped increase accountability and transparency while saving time and money through the streamlining of disparate systems.

“CAMMS allows us to deliver our vision from concept, strategic assessment, planning,
project and risk management right through to explaining our performance.
CAMMS’ suite enabled DWFRS to more easily drive service improvement – for a very reasonable cost.
It is at the heart of everything we do.”
