Case Study

North Eastern Community Hospital (NECH), is a not-for-profit organisation providing the community with a comprehensive range of health services in a safe, caring environment. CAMMS’ Governance, Risk and Compliance Management (GRC) solution provided NECH a holistic view to risk management, audit processes and regulatory compliance management.

North Eastern Community Hospital (NECH) established in 1973, is a not-for-profit organisation comprising of a Private Independent Acute Care Hospital and a Residential Aged Care Facility, providing excellent care to the Community with a comprehensive range of health services in a safe, caring environment.

NECH have a modern 60 bed hospital and a residential aged care facility with 84 licensed beds focused on providing an environment in which the community receive quality care and clinical services. North Eastern Community Hospital employ over 260 staff and South Australia’s only single site not-for-profit with combined Hospital and Aged care service.

The Challenge

The Board and management needed a solution to review and improve its risk management approach across the enterprise and importantly to meet the requirements of the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS) for accreditation.

NECH’s existing risk management approach was essentially a centrally controlled risk register spreadsheet, which was a blend of risks, controls and consequences with a degree of duplication. It was not serving as an effective governance, compliance and risk management tool to inform and support business requirements.

Our Solution

cammsrisk inclusive suite of Governance, Risk and Compliance Management (GRC) solutions provided NECH with a holistic view to risk management, audit processes and regulatory compliance management. With the implementation of CAMMS’ solution, NECH had a single version of the truth with a central risk repository which facilitated structured risk management, governance and compliance processes that were well aligned with corporate objectives and GRC practices.

The Benefits

With CAMMS’ Solution in place and supported by a team with extensive risk management knowledge, NECH has been able to:

  • Access support contributing to the attainment of its 3 year ACSQHC NSQHS accreditation.
  • Develop a robust strategic and operational risk register with a supporting policy, strategy/framework and plan.
  • Utilise an integrated enterprise risk management system that meets the needs of the organisation with marked improvement in reporting capabilities resulting in greater ‘visibility’ of the organisation’s risks enabling managers and staff to proactively manage their risks.

“We chose CAMMS as our solution provider, because of its ability to integrate risk and incident management and strategy, which would create efficiencies and a more substantive approach in growing the company.”
